A very special concert by Palestinian singer and oud player Basel Zayed in the intimate and acoustically wonderful Gallery 263 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, along with a travel photography exhibition & discussion by Cecily Miller and friends.
Basel Zayed is a virtuoso oud player and vocalist skilled in classical and contemporary Arabic music. He is a trained pianist with a unique and diverse style, and has composed and arranged music for a number of artistic projects and performing groups. He has created original soundtracks for movies, plays, and dance groups. Also an accomplished conductor, Zayed has more recently focused on incorporating improvisational jazz elements into his music.
Cecily Miller is a photographer, world-traveler, and award-winning arts manager and activist who served as the first Executive Director of both the Somerville Arts Council and the Forest Hills Educational Trust. Her photography has been exhibited and offered for sale at venues throughout the greater Boston area.
