Bold Forbes and Cricket Blue are back at Gallery 263 for another night of eclectic folk music. Bold Forbes weave together intricate string arrangements to transcend genre, shifting at times to sounding more like a chamber music group than a raucous string band. Cricket Blue joins us from the mountains of Vermont where they craft original songs that draw from their deep connection to New England folk.

ABOUT BOLD FORBES
Formed in 2012, Bold Forbes blends the stories and poetry of the folk-singer tradition with innovative arrangements for strings and voice.  Lyricist and lead singer Nick Bloom writes songs that both yearn for adventure and long for home; that explore the passions of private love and the shouts of public outrage; and that above all urge the listener to feel deeply. Bassist David Halpern and violinist Reid Jenkins shape these songs with arrangements for the strings that are both challenging to genre and eminently listenable.  BoldForbes has played the New York City folk music circuit extensively, playing at venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Jalopy Theatre, The Bitter End, and Postcrypt Coffeehouse, and has toured the Northeast, Midwest, and Texas.  The band just released their first studio EP, “Won’t You Miss It?” in January of 2016 which is available on iTunes and Spotify.

ABOUT CRICKET BLUE
The Music of Vermont-based folk duo Cricket Blue is inspired by diverse aspects of the American folk tradition: old and current, popular and obscure. Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith write songs marked by close-knit harmonies and words about myth, confusion, love, and the ends of the things.

“Artists as skilled and astounding as Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith of Cricket Blue pass through only rarely. They possess rare wisdom and depth… your heart and mind will dance.” – Mark Sustic
